From Growing Pains to Growing Gains: Exploring Key Cases in Mid-Market Success

Although middle-market deal activity has slowed considerably since its resurgence in 2015, several opportunistic companies have made bold M&A decisions in an otherwise tepid deal environment. New growth strategies such as seamless alignment between infrastructure and business strategy, investment in new technologies, and providing customers with a personalized experience have given companies a second win and propelled them ahead of their peers. This session will explore the case of such companies and analyze how their growth strategies, which utilize unique approaches, continue to pay dividends in stagnant or declining markets.

Assessing Cyber(in)securities in M&A: From Data Analytics to Third Party Liabilities

This session continues last year’s conference conversation around the rising risk of cybercrime and the prodigious elevation of data privacy.  Given the capricious climate, understanding who you do deals with and how they do business is becoming an important focus in dealmaking.  Yet, while buyers are accustomed to examining the data policies of sellers, they may lack a similar focus towards the data security policies of third party vendors contracted to aid in M&A deals.  In this session, our panel will discuss the importance of understanding the data security policies of third party vendors as well as the benefits of using processes like data analytics to conduct comprehensive security assessments of these business partners. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences and pose questions or concerns to the group.

Mastering Post-Merger Integration – Strategic Planning

While it remains, undoubtedly, challenging work to see an M&A deal come to fruition, the heavy lifting doesn’t end when the ink dries.  Dealmakers also need to stretch their sights beyond the more-immediate deal horizon to consider a post-merger integration strategy.  This session will consider factors such as executive alignment, conjoining operational processes, post-merger budgetary resources, cross-pollinating cultures and talent retention as part of a practical blueprint on how to create solid synergies for post-merger integration success.
