William Byrnes

Prof. William Byrnes (Texas A&M University School of Law) is a prolific author of several tax law treatises, compendium, and annual Tax Facts books that have sold more than 150,000 copies and many thousand online subscribers. His tax and financial planning articles are syndicated across ALM channels and in 2016 he was the 9th most downloaded tax professor on SSRN. Before full-time academia, William Byrnes served in a senior international tax position, focused on transfer pricing, with a Big 6 firm. Prof. Byrnes pioneered online education in the early nineties and his programs have attracted professionals from approximately 100 countries. After peer review, the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs selected him for the Fulbright Specialist Roster for the areas of technology-enhanced pedagogy and comparative taxation and India’s National Board of Accreditation bestowed in 2012 its Education Leadership Award on Professor Byrnes for which the conference chair stated: “Professor William Byrnes’ leadership and contribution to the field of education is well known. … The position that you occupy in the fraternity is strategic and iconic.”
