Doreen E. Lilienfeld
Doreen Lilienfeld, Practice Group Leader of Shearman & Sterling’s Compensation, Governance & ERISA Group, has been involved in a wide variety of compensation-related matters, including the design and implementation of retention and compensation plans, disclosure and regulatory compliance, and employment negotiations with senior executives. She has significant experience in compensation and benefits issues relating to private equity and other mergers and acquisitions transactions. Legal directories, such as Chambers, Legal 500 US and Super Lawyers, have named Ms. Lilienfeld a leader in her field. Doreen became a partner in January 2002 and is an elected member of the firm’s nine member Policy Committee. For the past 12 years, Doreen has spearheaded the publication of the Shearman & Sterling LLP survey of the compensation-related corporate governance practices of the largest 100 domestic issuers.
Doreen has been instrumental in implementing ground-breaking initiatives and programs to promote women’s issues. Thanks to her efforts, Shearman & Sterling has initiated a new dialogue regarding women in the workplace through the firm’s Lean In Platform Partnership and Lean In Circle Education Meetings worldwide. Recognizing the potential of social media, Doreen also helped launch @ShearmanWomen, one of the first Twitter feeds in the legal community that highlights the accomplishments of women and focuses on the advancement and promotion of women in law and business.
Doreen is a member of the National Advisory Board of Women in Law Empowerment Forum, a premier organization dedicated to the advancement of women in law firms and corporate legal departments. In addition, she has been actively involved with Lawyers Alliance for New York, a pro bono clearing house for community-based programs, and with HerJustice (formerly known as inMotion.org), an organization devoted to justice for low-income women.
